Caldwell On The Move

Caldwell, the Gateway to Idaho Wine Country  Snake River Valley Wine Region

The Canyon County wine region is gaining momentum in its marketing efforts as the Snake River Valley Wine Region develops signage, brochures and a website to attrack visitors to the scenic vineyards and orchards in the area.  With the majority of Idaho's wine industry sitting in Canyon County's back yard, it is no wonder that the region is gaining the attention of many.  Enjoy the fabulous views and incredible wines produced in Canyon County.  For additional information, visit http://www.snakerivervalleywine.org/.

Creek Art Revealed

The Indian Creek Project, though complete, continues to transform as new features and amenities are added.  Included are two public art pieces that were funded by a grant assembled by The Center for the Arts and Caldwell Fine Arts, a clock donated by the Lions Club, and a plaque honoring the original Steering Committee members who envisioned the uncovered waterway.  Other features that have been added since its completion include tables, waste baskets and animal waste recepticles.  Together, these features make the creek an environment that can be shared by all.

City of Caldwell - City of Lights
Downtown Caldwell was a vision to behold over the holiday season as city workers strung thousands of holiday LED lights along Indian Creek.  Scores of residents and visitors witnessed the Winter Wonderland event where the Grand Opening of the Historic Caldwell Train Depot Interpretive Center and City Christmas Tree-lighting took place.  In the aftermath of the opening events, families are seen wandering along the creek paths enjoying the fruits of hundreds of hours of work by city employees and volunteers.

With the holiday season now over, the lights are coming down, the snow is melting and thoughts of spring lie ahead.  There is still an opportunity to stroll through the downtown and visit the Caldwell Train Depot Interpretive Center on the first Saturday of each month from Noon to 4PM.  The Friends of the Depot will have two docents (trained volunteers) to take its visitors through a century and more of Caldwell history.  The Center features a scale model train and artifacts from early Caldwell.
